Is my device able to show Solar Export?
You can check if your Trio is compatible by going to Menu > Settings > Advanced > Device Info and noting the 'firmware version' if it is 5.8 and above your device will be compatible.
How does the feature work?
Some smart meters support sending the power value (which is what drives the needle on the dial) as either an import value or and export value.
When the Trio sees the export power value it will adapt the electricity dial. Three segments are for import as normal, and one segment added for export.
Example of import > export
Example of import < export
To make it easier to see what is happening at a distance, when importing, we grey out the export segment and visa versa for export, we grey out the import segments.
If your Trio has an LED, it will follow the colour of the segment- export is always shown as green.
The dial will change from import only to import/export when it sees an export power reading of >= 50W. This is to ensure the export value is real rather than a spurious value.
The export dial maximum value will scale based on the size of your solar PV array. Most solar PV systems are under 4kWp, therefore the maximum scale is typically 4kWp.
If you have a larger solar PV system we will scale up to 8kWp. The ‘p’ meaning the maximum peak kW your solar PV system was designed for.
Smart meters do not support export tariff, therefore we show dashes for the cost view. Toggle the view to show kW instead.
Resetting the Trio will reset the dial to the normal import view with 3 segments.
Note - Some electric meters do not support this function.
